Juror’s Statement

“Congratulations on an excellent exhibit! There is great diversity of approaches, technique and content. I am personally interested in presentation and content. I selected artwork that reflected an area of uniqueness in one of these areas. Presentation needs to make your work stand out by the addition of open space, proper matting and simplicity in framing.

Content is the trademark of work that speaks to each of us in a unique narrative and attracts our attention as we read the artwork.

Collage lends itself to experimentation and finding a new vision for found objects. We exercise our creative side by seeing things in a totally new way. Our morning walks become a search party for the found object or recycling of ‘roadsidia.’

Congratulations to all of you for working in such an exciting medium and experimenting with all aspects of this creative process. It is a pleasure to be a part of the process for all artists that involves constant critique, judgment and a resulting product for exhibition. About CAA

Collage Artists of America (CAA) was founded in 1988 by nine Los Angeles-area women proficient in a variety of media who sought to expand their creativity to encompass collage and assemblage. Membership has grown to over 150 members across the United States and Canada. Many members have been instructors at all levels of education and exhibit widely both nationally and internationally.

Meetings are held five times a year and include programs presented by artists renowned for their work in collage and assemblage.
