Nearly 20 years ago, a number of artists in the Valley Watercolor Society started meeting regularly to paint together, experimenting with watermedia materials and techniques. Originally known as The Friday Painters, this spin-off group evolved into LA Experimental Artists: a co-op of 12 artists who meet monthly at VIVA to reinvent old and explore new techniques in collage, assemblage, watermedia, monotypes, and digital art, sharing friendship and ideas as they go. The members include Ruth Banarer, Betty Beam, Judi Birnberg, Susan Gesundheit, Ben Goldman, Beverly Grossman, Marilyn Haber, Susan Kuss, Helen Merken, Trish Meyer, Sandra Rooney, and Dorothy Tate. This was their first exhibit as a group, and it prooved an excellent chance to experience a wide range of art and ideas (including a special presention on ?bug art? at the closing reception!).
